From a non-anthropocentric perspective, 2020 could easily be considered a banner year. While humans simmered in misery, walloped with compounding stressors, domesticated dogs were right by their side to pick up the pieces and reap the rewards. Meaningful eye contact, marathon snuggling and extra snacks (for everyone) became the order of the day. So much so that in late 2020, the Canine Council released a formal statement recognizing it as “a time of unprecedented walkies.”
